Hawthorn Sports Medicine specialises in providing diagnosis and management for injuries and medical issues related to exercise.
Our Sport and Exercise Physicians have completed medical specialty training in sport and exercise medicine and adopt an individualised and holistic approach to management for patients at all levels of activity.
Dr Tim Wood, Dr Chris Hasenkam and Dr Matt Chamberlain work as doctors within professional and amateur sporting organisations and provide specialised sports medicine services to the local community, with Dr Tim Wood consulting in Hawthorn since 1996.

Dr Tim Wood
MBChB, BSc(Hons), FACSEP
Dr Tim Wood served as the Chief Medical Officer to Tennis Australia and the Australian Open from 2002-2017. He is a specialist in sport and exercise medicine with more than 30 years of experience. He founded his practice in Hawthorn in 1996 and sees patients of all athletic abilities and ages, from children through to patients in their nineties. He also consults in Byron Bay.

Dr Chris Hasenkam

Dr Chris Hasenkam is the Head Doctor for Cricket Victoria and is a match day doctor for the Sydney Swans. He brings knowledge and experience from these environments to assist people of all abilities to return to function, prevent injury and optimise performance. Dr Hasenkam consults from both Hawthorn and Warragul.

Dr Matt Chamberlain has worked in elite sport since 2007 and is currently the Head Doctor at Carlton Football Club, bringing clinical experience across Olympic, AFL and multiple professional sports to the consulting room. He enjoys seeing patients of all sporting abilities and ages.
